John C. Carmichael

Rev. John C. Carmichael, 82, a native of Glenwood and a resident of Spanish Fort died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at a local hospital.

He was a graduate of Troy State University and advanced studies at Candler School of Theology. He was ordained in 1945 as an elder of the South Alabama, West Florida United Methodist Conference. He retired from the Itinerate Ministry in June 1985. He then served as a supply minister until June of 1995. He moved to West Minister Village in Spanish Fort in 2000. He was serving as seniors' Pastor at West Minister Village for the Spanish Fort United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, LaMerle Johnson Carmichael of Spanish Fort; son, Daniel Asher Carmichael, Spanish Fort; daughter, Keitha Carmichael Duncan, Pensacola, Fla.; brother, Billy Wayne Carmichael, Stockbridge, Ga.; four sisters, Evelyn Starling of Anniston, Christine Hixon of Troy; Evanell Jackson of Glenwood and Enid Folmar of Glenwood, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at Glenwood United Methodist Church in Glenwood. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery in Glenwood with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rev. Carmichael's name to the charity of your choice.
