Virgil Lamar Dunn

Virgil Lamar Dunn, 81, of the Josie Community, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Troy Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 28 at Ramah

Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Averyt Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Ramah Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday,

June 27, at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. There will be a one-hour lie-in-state at the church prior to the service.

Dunn was born in the Josie Community in 1923. He farmed in Pike County from the age of 8 years old until his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Johnson Dunn; a son, William Riley Dunn, a son-in-law Keneth Norman Piper, his parents, George I. And Minnie Mathilda Green Dunn, and two sisters, Sara Augustus Freeman and Wanda Viola Reynolds.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Dunn; a daughter, LaJean Dunn Piper, Blairsville, Penn., a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Dunn and Jerry Jinright of Troy, a daughter, Bonnie Faye Dunn, Healdsburg, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lamar and Ann Dunn of Josie;

brother and sister-in-law Green and Lorene Dunn; 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Roben and Marty Ressler, Hallie Jo and Ron Edwards, Carrie and Scott Woodson, Betsy and Joe Leigner, Anna Broderick, John Patrick Broderick, Matt Dunn, Ryann and Tony May, Amy and Ken Bray, Julie Dunn, Shelly Dunn, Charley Dunn; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and his beloved three Saint Bernard dogs.

Pallbearers will be Butch Austin, Ken Bray, Rickey Culpepper, Matt Dunn, Tony May and Billy Wesley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ramah Memorial Cemetery Fund, c/o Averyt Walker, 2104 County Road 6631, Banks, AL 36005.

Walter L. Adamson

Services for Walter L. Adamson, 70, of Louisville, who died Friday, June 25, 2004 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. Wilbur Kirkland officiating.

Burial will be in Banks Cemetery under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Adamson was preceded in death by a son, Thomas A. Adamson; sisters, Margaret Gray and Cornelia Phillips; brother, Ewing Adamson and parents, William S. and Katie Adamson.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Adamson of Troy; two daughters and their husbands, Angelina and Doug Williamson of Lake City, Florida and Angie and Tyler Reed of Troy; son, Walter W. Adamson of Troy; six grandchildren, Mary Ann Kirby. Amber Reed, Rebecca Adamson, Timothy Reed, Thomas Reed and Tyler Reed; two sisters, Lillie Carmichael of Dixon, MO. and Mabel Cherry of Crestview, Florida.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Behney, George McNeil and Tyler Reed.

Lillie Mae Stewart

Services for Lillie Mae Stewart, 79, of Brundidge, who died Thursday, June 24, 2004 at Troy Regional Medical Center will be at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Ariton with Rev. L. A. Bonds presiding and Rev. Y. Z. Anglin officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation was held Monday, June 28, 2004 from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Dicie Russaw; husband, Willie C. Stewart and eight children.

Survivors include five daughters and their husbands, Gracie and Sammy Adair, Jeanette and Johnny Lee Williams, Annie and Coley Miller, Jewel and Roy Lee Williams and Rita and Robert Boyd; three sons and their wives, Jason and Shirleen Freeman Griffin, Jerry and Brenda Stewart and Chris and Tamara Stewart; thirty eight grandchildren, forty four great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Lillie B. High and Vera Sewell; aunt, Lessie Stewart, friend of the family, Mother Katie P. White, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
