Vera Griffin Allen

Mrs.Vera Griffin Allen, age 61, of Montgomery, Al., (formerly of Troy) died Thursday August 7, 2003 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Griffin Allen will be held Sunday August 10, 2003 at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Skeen Funeral Home in Troy with Dr. Tony Dye officiating. Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. She will lie in state from 2:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service. Visitation will be held Saturday August 9, 2003 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. She is survived by her husband; Johnny Allen of Montgomery, (formerly of Goshen); four daughters, Deborah Hughes of Chambersburg, PA, Shirley Hughes of Brundidge, Al., Dianne and Tim Arnett of Brundidge, Al. and Tonya Allen of Jemison, Al.; three sons, Donald and Tracey Hughes of Chambersburg, PA., Steve and Leigh Allen of Jemison, Al and Gene Allen of Jemison, Al.; three brothers, George Griffin, William &uot;Butch&uot; Griffin and Lester Griffin all of Troy; two sisters, Beverly and Andy Curry of Texas and Terry and Jerry Weiman of Brundidge, Al,; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Smith; father, Norton Griffin and a sister Barbara Griffin. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Campbell, Jr., Anthony Arnett, Ashley Register, Chad Griffin, Bobby Joe Edwards and Danny Ford. The family requests memorials be made to Wiregrass Hospice, Dothan, Al.
