Troy Belles deserve credit and support

It's not everyday that the home team wins a state title in front of a home crowd, and it's certainly not ordinary when a team heads to a World Series.
However, Troy is now home to the state champion Dixie Belles softball team, and will see them off to the World Series later this week.
Any victory worth remembering is hard-won, and our girls didn't have an easy ride in the tournament, despite losing only one game last week.
What made their championship victory even sweeter was the fact that Troy and Pike County turned out to support them all week long.
It's good to see our community come together to support our teams. The Dixie Angels, who were eliminated from their tournament earlier in the week deserve credit as well.
Softball isn't any easy game to master. Both teams have put in long hours this summer practicing and playing.
In the Belles' case, that dedication paid slight higher dividends.
We congratulate Troy's Dixie Belles and wish them luck at they compete in Denison, Texas in the World Series.
We congratulate our neighbors here in Troy, too. Without such great support, the Belles certainly wouldn't have had as memorable of a win.
