The United State Calf Roping Association will be making a stop in Pike County this weekend.

The USCRA will hold a two-day competition beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. The ropers will return to action at 10 a.m. Sunday for the final day of events. Ropers and fans will also have a chance to worship Sunday before the events with a Cowboy Church meeting at 9 a.m. All events will be at Cattlemen's Park.

"There will be calf ropers from all over the country here," said Neal Merriman, a local roper and organizer of this weekend's events. "They will all be classified according to their ability to rope."

The top 10 ropers in each classification will come back for a "rope off" Sunday to determine the winners of each division. The amount of the pot will be determined by the number of ropers, since the prize money comes out of the entry fees each roper pays when he enters the competition.

The prize money should be substantial for this weekend's event. Merriman said he expected more than 200 ropers to take part in this weekend's competition.

The fun starts each day at 10 a.m. and will run until the events are completed for each day.
