The school board will meet in a called session at 5 p.m. to discuss the final two superintendent candidates and possibly take a vote, said board president Ron Pierce.

"We'll talk about a final decision and a vote being taken," Pierce said. "We're shooting to make a decision."

The board began the superintendent search in May, using N&P Consultants in Gadsden to find and recruit possible candidates.

In June, the board spent a week interviewing four candidates, including Charles Henderson High School principal Linda Felton-Smith.

The board has since narrowed the choice to Felton-Smith and Mickey Schuber Jr., the superintendent of Dublin City Schools in Dublin, Ga.

Pierce said the two candidates have been meeting with school administrators, central office workers and PTO officers from the high school, middle school and elementary school this week. At the board meeting tonight, the board members will seek some input from the administrators and officers before voting.

"We'll bring the PTO officers in and talk to them and hopefully take a vote," Pierce said.

Most of the school board members spent the weekend at a school board conference in Gulf Shores, but Pierce expects all members to be present at the meeting tonight.
