The SenioRx program provides free and low-cost prescription drugs to eligible individuals.

Hassie Green, director of the Lillian D. Green Nutrition Center in Troy, said many senior citizens did not take advantage of the first signup day and had inquired about the program.

"I think many of our seniors didn't realize what a great program this is and how much they would benefit from it," she said. "A second signup day is planned for Troy and Brundidge and I would like to encourage our seniors not to miss this opportunity."

The signup day in Troy will be at 9 a.m. July 15, at the Colley Senior Complex at 715 Elm Street. In Brundidge, the signup will be at 9 a.m. July 22, at

Brundidge Station.

"This is an opportunity no senior will want to miss," Green said. "Seniors can get valuable assistance from this program. I know that one person was paying about $100 a month for prescription drugs. They qualified for the SenioRx program and now they only pay between $3 and $5. That's a big savings."

To be eligible for the SenioRx Prescription Drug Assistance Program, an individual must be 60 years of age or older, have no insurance coverage for prescription drugs and meet income requirements.

To be eligible for the program, the monthly income for one person must be less than $1,496 and less than $2020 for two people.

When applying for the program, individuals must bring all of their prescription medication bottles, a print-out of their medications from the pharmacist and monthly medical expenses, including dental, vision, supplements, syringes, etc.

Individuals must also provide proof of income, a list of bills (electricity, water, heat, food, etc.) and the amount paid and their social security, Medicare and

supplemental insurance cards.

Green said although a lot of documentation is required of those making application, the benefits of acceptance are worth the time and effort.
