George Wallace Drive will be closed most of Wednesday to allow crews to install new lights at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

"George Wallace Drive will be closed from University Avenue to McKinley Drive Wednesday July 9 from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m.," said Troy Police Department spokesman Benny Scarbrough. "This temporary closure will be due to construction at the stadium."

The Highland Avenue exit onto George Wallace Drive will also be closed during these hours Wednesday.

The police requests all Highland Avenue traffic to exit onto Magnolia or Franklin Drives.

University Avenue will be open Wednesday.

Troy police are asking motorists to take alternate routes to avoid this area.

Additional closures are expected along University Avenue later as construction on the Quad gets underway.

Groundbreaking ceremonies for the project are also Wednesday.
