Bill dumps rain on county

Heavy rains from Tropical Storm Bill dumped more than four inches of rain on parts of Pike County Monday and Tuesday.

However, Larry Davis, emergency management director, said damage throughout the county was very minor.

'Out in the county there will be some damage to ditches and roads so there will be a lot to do out there," Davis said. "We did have some flooding on Elm Street in front of Charles Henderson Middle School and on up Elm Street in the area of that small pond. But nothing major.

Electrical service was lost to a house on Montgomery Street when a limb fell and stuck a power line.

"The limb tore the service off the house," Davis said. "Other than that, we made it okay."
