The bodies of a Troy couple missing since June 6 were discovered late Monday on Smart Road in Pike County.

Shelia Joyce Chancellor, 59, and her husband Wilbur Gillis Chancellor, 54, were discovered by a farmer cutting hay in a field near County Road 2262, said Troy Police Chief Anthony Everage.

The Chancellors were reported missing on June 8 by a family member, and police have been looking for them since that time.

"At this time, foul play is not expected to be a factor in this case," said Benny Scarbrough.

The bodies have been turned over to the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences for further investigation.

Scarbrough said the Pike County Sheriff's Department was contacted by the farmer after he discovered the van behind a stand of corn and went to investigate.

Pike County Coroner Jerry Williams and the 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office were also involved in the investigation, Scarbrough said.
