Troy splits with Ariton

The Troy American Legion Team 2 split a pair of games against Ariton this week.
Ariton took the first game 5-3, but Troy avenged the loss with an 11-10 win in the second game.
In the first game, Troy scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game, but pitcher Chris Davis surrendered two runs in the top of the fourth to suffer the loss.
Troy's rally in the third inning came from a string of walks and a base hit. Josh Sexton, Clay Helms and Chris Booker scored after drawing walks. Ahmad McLaney, who led Troy by going 2-for-3, hit a single to help tie the game.
Ariton took the lead in the second inning with a pair of runs. Ariton added another in the top of the third to take a 3-0 lead before Troy rallied.
In the second game, Troy took a 6-0 first-inning lead but had to rally in the fifth with three runs to win the game 11-10. Judson Ricks took the win
Jim Wallace, who led Troy at the plate by going 3-for-3, Booker and Davis all got hits in the first inning as Troy took a 6-0 lead.
The Troy offense sputtered until the fourth inning, and Ariton slowly chipped away. Ariton scored one run in the second and two more in the third to cut the lead to 6-3. Ariton scored two more in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to 6-5.
Troy finally got back on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth when Wallace hit a two-run double. Leland Farmer and Ben Jones scored on the play. Ariton looked to be on its way to a sweep in the top of the fifth. Ariton scored five runs to take a 10-8 lead.
But Troy won it in the bottom of the inning when Davis, Wallace and Brian Matney scored.
Davis went 2-for-3, Morgan Sanders went 1-for-2, Josh Sexton went 1-for-2, Ben Jones went 1-for-3, Booker went 1-for-3 and Matney went 1-for-2.
