The Pike County School Board approved the hire of three new employees for the 2003-2004 school year at its regular meeting Monday night.
Board members approved Superintendent Mark Bazzell's recommendations and hired Patrice Fleming as a physical education teacher at Banks School, Buffy Lusk as an English teacher at Goshen High School and Auther Foster as a custodian at Pike County Elementary School.
The board also approved advertisement for two physical education teachers, one at Banks School and the other at PCE, and full time reading coaches at Goshen Elementary and Banks School.
The board also approved an inter-district transfer and transferred teachers to accommodate the change in grade level enrollment.
Bazzell said it was common to transfer teachers within the system to prepare for the upcoming school year.
Fiemens, the company who is evaluating the school system's energy situation, gave a 15-minute presentation on the results of their energy audit.
The presentation included estimates per school and per building on the costs of updating lights, windows, roofs and HVAC.
The board did not take action on the price estimates.
"This was solely for the benefit of the board members," Bazzell said.
"We will more than likely begin this project in August or September."
Bazzell said the board will address the action at its July meeting.
Board members also approved membership in the Alabama Association of School Boards.
