Walters is third to interview for top job

Tomorrow, the Troy City School Board will interview candidate number three for the superintendent position.

Local Charles Henderson High School principal Linda Felton-Smith was the first to be interviewed on Monday.

Herman Michael &uot;Mickey&uot; Schuber Jr. will follow this afternoon.

Tomorrow's candidate is Joe David Walters, principal at Crestline Elementary School at Hartselle City Schools in Hartselle, Ala.

Walters has spent the last 30 years in the public school system and was a high school band director for almost 20 years.

His central office experience includes Special Services Coordinator and Director of Secondary Curriculum for Hartselle City Schools.

Walters received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Jacksonville State University.

He also has an education specialist degree and a doctorate of education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Walters' interview will be in council chambers at City Hall and broadcast on Troy Cable Channel 52 from 2-4 p.m.

A public reception will follow.
