Malmer R. Browder

Graveside services for Malmer R. Browder, 83, of Andalusia who died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Hills Chapel in Grady with the Rev. Herbert Carlisle officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at Hills Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jule Bradley Browder of Andalusia; daughter, Julanne Browder Veasey of Orion; son and his wife, James A. and Donna Kay Browder of Andalusia; grandchildren, James Veasey of Grady, Dawn Veasey of Orion, Tiffany Kay Browder of Andalusia, Bradley Wayne Browder of Andalusia and Jamie Rose Browder of Andalusia; brothers, Mack Browder of Tallassee and Matt Browder of Fresno, California and a sister, Jean Browder Bond of Fairhope.

The family request memorials be made to the Alzhiemers Association or to your favorite charity.

Pallbearers are Clarence Deese, John L. Deese, Tommy Goree, Larry Menifee, W. F. Mills, Humbert Zappia and Wayne Register.

Carrie Lee &uot;Ms. Fat&uot; Scott Owens Thomas

Services for Carrie Lee &uot;Ms. Fat&uot; Scott Owens Thomas, 63, of Troy died June 1, 2003 at Baptist South Medical Center in Montgomery, will be at 4 p.m., June 6, at First Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with the Rev. George Gilchrist, Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in the Linwood Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 12:30 to 5 p.m. on June 5 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thomas was born Nov. 23, 1939 in Pike County, the daughter of the late Mr. Richard (Bud) Owens and Mrs. Lizzie Mae Scott Owens.

She was a daycare provider until her recent illness, and was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church and was matron, Organized Easter Star 857 David Choice Chapter, and vice-president of Oakland Heights Missionary. She enjoyed fishing.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by two sisters Mary L. Brundidge and Gladys Tyner; two brothers, L.P. Scott and James &uot;Sonny&uot; Owens; and son-in-law Eric Jerome Baker.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Mr. John L. &uot;Jr.&uot; Thomas of Troy; nine children: Richard Owens, Jr.; Martha Ree Baker; Raymond K. Baker, Sr. and wife Jennifer; Mary D. Johnson; James M. Baker and wife Vivian; Sabrena Wingard and husband Sanford; Michelle Baker and husband Jimmy; Deliah L. Baker, all of Troy; six sisters: Geraldine Martin of Newark, N.J.; Mary Henderson of Mount Holly, N.J.; Jennifer Elder of Keleen, Texas; Greta and husband Rodney Wilson of Troy; brothers Charles Potts and wife Pearl of Troy; Damani Richard Henderson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Jim Henderson and wife Catherine of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Anthony Henderson and wife Valerie of Sterling, Va.; Jimmie Henderson and wife Sharon of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Governor James Henderson of Houston, Texas; Cassius Henderson of Mount Holly, N.J.; Tyrone Elder of Troy; Keith Elder and wife Keisha of Baltimore, Md.; one sister-in-law, Susie M. Martin of Abbeville; one brother-in-law Willie B. Thomas of Cincinnati, Ohio, 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family and floralbearers will be the Organized Eastern Stars, special friends, classmates and friends.
