Varner-Elder

Mrs. Barbara Riddell Varner and Dr. Donald Leo Varner of Canton, Mississippi announce the engagement of their daughter Frances Louise Varner to James Owen Elder, son of Dr. and Mrs. Owen Cecil Elder, Jr. of Pearl, Mississippi, formerly of Troy. The couple will be married 7 p.m. July 19, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church in Canton.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Thomas Holloway Riddell, Jr. and the late Mr. Thomas Holloway Riddell, Jr. and Mrs. Leo Varner and the late Mr. Leo Varner, all of Canton, Mississippi.

Mr. Elder is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Owen Cecil Elder, of Birmingham, Alabama and the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Kalb of Salina, Kansas.

Miss Varner is a graduate of Canton Academy, in Canton, Mississippi. She graduated Cum Laude from Mississippi State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Sciences and Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. While at Mississippi State University she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority, a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Society, Golden Key Honorary Society and selected Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Miss Varner is currently employed as a Science teacher with Northwest Rankin Middle School in Flowood, Mississippi.

Mr. Elder graduated with honors from Jackson Preparatory School in Jackson, Mississippi. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Cum Laude with a Masters degree in Business Administration.

Mr. Elder was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and a Dean’s List Scholar. He is currently employed as Inventory Accountant with Raytheon Aerospace in Madison, Mississippi.

Following a honeymoon in Ocho Rios, Jamaica the couple will reside in Madison, Mississippi.

Terry-Faulk

Amanda Wallace Terry and Joseph Andrew Faulk were married May 24, 2003, at 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Decatur.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Wallace Terry of Decatur. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Erastus Faulk of Troy.

The wedding was performed by the Rev. Asa Boozer with music provided by Gail Warth, organist.

The bride was given in marriage by her father Wallace Terry and was attended by maid of honor Virginia Lile Terry, the bride's sister. Other attendants included Mary Katherine Sandlin, Bonnie Elizabeth Sandlin, Ashley Elizabeth Mueller, Blair Stofel, Elizabeth Clark Weaver and Ariel Barbara Denbo.

The groom was served by his father Joseph Faulk as best man and groomsmen Charles Edward Cobb, Louis Jones Corley, III, Jeffrey Williams Corley, Judd Spencer Jackson, Keith Frederick Laney, Neal Green DiChiara.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Decatur Country Club. After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will live in Dothan.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Faulk entertained with an after-rehearsal party at Simp McGhee's.
