Helen B. Motes
Helen B. Motes, 82, of Goshen died in her home.
Services will be
held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Goshen Baptist Church in Goshen with the Revs. W.O. Sanders and David Zorn officiating. The body will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. the day of the service.
Burial will follow in Elam Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Goshen with Skeen Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy.
She was born July 28, 1921, in Franconia, N.H., to the late Fred Brooks and the late Bertha Whitney. She was a high school graduate and homemaker. She was a member of Goshen Baptist Church and was saved on Mother's Day 1965. She also served in the U.S. Army WAAC in 1943. She was a member of the American Legion Post #207 in Goshen and was married to John P. Motes on Sept. 26, 1943.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kerry L. Motes.
Survivors include her husband, John P. Motes of Goshen; a son, David John Motes of Mobile; a daughter, Judith Holmes of Tuscaloosa; a sister, Pauline B. Goudie of Lisbon, N.H.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the men of Goshen Baptist Church. The family requests memorials be made to Goshen Baptist Church.
