Pike County continues its march toward economic success, and the support of the community can be largely credited for our growth.

This week's announcement by Lockheed Martin that it would expand its Pike County Operations if awarded an Air Force contract for small diameter bombs is just one example of our growth.

It also means that we're building a reputation for quality here that can only foster additional growth.

We've been fortunate to have had great community support, a professional economic development program, and elected officials who understand that growth requires much more than just industrial recruitment.

Pike County is a total package. We're continually working to improve the quality of life, strengthen education, promote small business enterprise and build the sense of inclusiveness necessary for sustainable growth.

Just a quick look around the county and even a casual observer can see that Pike County has a lot on the ball.

That's not to say we don't have weaknesses in some areas. We - like all communities - do, but what will set us apart from the rest of the pack is how we deal with those issues.

Together we can continue to build our county. Together we can make a difference.
