Trojans take two victories on road

The Charles Henderson baseball team took two more wins Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Trinity.
The Trojans won game one 11-7 and rallied for an extra-inning win in game two. The Trojans won the second game 10-9 in eight innings.
The Trojans had to rally to win the second game and found the bats when they needed them. Matt Johnson hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to tie the game and send it to extra innings.
Charles Henderson played some small ball in the eighth inning as Blake Phelps knocked in David Doty from third base with a squeeze bunt.
Johnson went two-for-five in the game with two runs scored and two RBI.
Pete Van Horn went two-for-five with a single and a double. He knocked in three runs. Daniel Porter led the Trojans at the plate, going three-for-four with two runs scored, an RBI and a double.
Brett Pierce scored two runs while going two-for-five and Clint Pugh went two-for-four and scored two runs as well.
Van Horn collected the win.
In the first game of the day, Johnson pitched a complete game for the win.
Clint Pugh hit a home run in the game. He also hit a double as he finished two-for-three with two RBI. Pierce also hit for extra bases, going two-for-four with two RBI while hitting a double.
Porter hit two-for-three with two RBI and David Doty went two-for-three with a double and a single.
The Trojans play Monday at Northview before playing the first round of the state playoffs Wednesday. Charles Henderson will play Briarwood Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Troy in the first round.
The Trojans played Northview in the first game of the season in Troy, falling 10-0 to the 6A team.
