The Colley Senior Complex Gala is one of the most anticipated "formals" of the year. The Gala is billed as a "black tie optional" event but most of those who attend take advantage of the opportunity to dress to the nines.
This year's Gala will be from 7 until 11 p.m. May 3, at Troy Country Club. Admission is $25 and includes a night of food, fellowship and fun.
Mary Ann Casey, director of the Colley Senior Complex, said the Gala benefits the Troy Senior Foundation and its many and varied programs.
"But you don't have to be a 'senior' to attend," she said. "The Gala is for all adults who enjoy getting dressed for a night out on the town. We'll have heavy hors d'oeuvres and dancing to the music of the Ray Smith combo, so the Gala is an event you don't wan t to miss."
The Gala will get under way at 7 p.m. with a silent auction that includes "high ticket" items such as portraits and paintings by local artists, trips, artistically designed chairs and many other items for which anyone who be proud to get the bid.
"The silent auction will close at 10 p.m. and the bidding should be fast and furious as bidders attempt to get these fantastic items," Casey said.
