John Byron Thompson
Services for John Byron Thompson, 72, of Brundidge who died Tuesday March 18, 2003 at his residence will be at 10 a.m. Thursday March 20, 2003 at Springfield Baptist Church in Brundidge with Brother Charles Blair and Revs. E.T. Horton and John Emfinger officiating.
He will lie-in-state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Brundidge.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday March 19, 2003 at the funeral home.
Mr. Thompson was born November 26, 1930 in Pike County. His parents were John William Thompson and Mary Wilson. He was a life long member of Springfield Baptist Church, He was employed with Skeen Funeral Home in Brundidge and Troy and was a very devoted and loving family man to his wife and children and a loving Paw-Paw to Kerri and Heather.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gordon Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Thompson of Brundidge; son and his wife, William and Carol Thompson of Spanish Fort; daughter, Bertha Taylor of Brundidge; brother, Buren Thompson of Banks; two granddaughters, Kerri Taylor of Brundidge and Heather Taylor of Montevallo and a special friend, Pat Blair.
Pallbearers are Joey Strother, James Mitchell, Bill Stewart, Donny Richards, Franklin Danner and John Austin.
Honorary pallbearers are Moma Jean, Pa Pa, Anthony, Phil and Ryan Skeen.
The family request memorials be made to Springfield Church Building Fund. They will also be accepting flowers.
Beatrice Stubinger
Services for Beatrice Stubinger, 82, of Troy who died Sunday March 16, 2003 at her home will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday March 18, 2003 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Revs. Marvin Jackson and Frank Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday February 17, 2003 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stubinger was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Linzey; son, Herman Linzey and a grandson, Danny Linzey.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Stubinger of Troy; son, Jerry Lindsey of Troy; daughters, Gail Broadway of Troy, Jeri Tolbert of Montgomery and Carolyn Linzey of Troy; ten grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Chris Cordle, Kenneth Harris, Dave Hart, Randy Peaveyhouse, Mike Rhodes and Mark Taylor.
