President, Leadership Pike Class 2003
I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.
Now that we are back into the swing of things, I thought it would be a good time to update you on how things are going with the Leadership Pike class.
The tours we have taken have been educational for the class.
Pike County has so much to offer.
Residents should be proud they live in such a fine county.
The class has bonded well with one another and the members seem more excited each time we meet.
Each year, the students of Leadership Pike are given a project, which must be completed by the end of the class year.
This year, our class has decided to sponsor an educational scholarship where one student in Pike County will receive the scholarship.
It will be based on academic achievement and community involvement as well as a written essay.
The amount of the scholarship will be determined by the amount of money the class raises.
The class had several different ideas for raising the money needed to fund the scholarship.
We have elected to begin the fund raising by hosting a steak dinner.
The date for the event will be Saturday, April 12.
The location we have selected is the beautiful Clay Hill Farms.
There will be two different seating times so that everyone who wishes to attend will have an opportunity to do so, one at 5:30 and another at 8:00.
The cost to attend will be $25.00 with all profits going toward the scholarship fund. Look for more information coming soon or call the Chamber office at 566-2294.
We look forward to see many of you at the event.
