TPD nabs robbery suspect

Troy Police have arrested a suspect in connection with four robberies that occurred in February and March of this year in Troy, according to information released by Chief Anthony Everage.

Kendall Henderson, 24, of Montgomery has been arrested in connection with the March 1 armed robbery at approximately 12:45 a.m. in the parking lot of a local business on US Highway 231 in Troy. Henderson approached two victims in the parking lot of the business and demanded money from them at gun point. No money was taken during the robbery.

He fled the scene on a 1999 Chevrolet and was later stopped by TPD officers on McNeil Street where he was taken into custody. A firearm was recovered and is believed to be the one used in the robberies. Henderson was transported to the Troy Police Department.

A subsequent investigation led to Henderson's arrest in connection with two other armed robberies that occurred Feb. 25 at approximately 3 a.m. at a local business in Troy located on US Highway 231 and the Little C Texaco on the Elba Highway on Feb. 28 at approximately 1 a.m.

According to information released, both businesses were robbed when a male suspect entered the businesses and demanded money from the clerk at the respective business.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken in both robberies and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

No one was injured in any of the robberies.

Henderson has been charged with four counts of robbery 1st degree, one count of violation of license to carry a pistol and one count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the Feb. 25, Feb. 28 and March 1 robberies.

His bond has been set at $160,000.

Chief Everage advised that Troy Police continue to investigate these robberies and are following-up on leads in all these cases. These cases have also been referred to the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for possible Federal prosecution under the &uot;Isolate the Criminal Element&uot; Operation in the Middle District of the United States District Court in Montgomery.
