Clip Helms

Services for Clip Helms, 88, of Glenwood who died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at his home will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Revs. Joe Waldorf and Rick Hayes officiating.

Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy under the direction of Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at the funeral home.

Mr. Helms was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Gussie Hughes Helms, stepmother, Alma Barnes Helms, four brothers, Amos, Barney, Bud and Jim Helms and a sister, Lessie Scarbrough.

Survivors include a wife of 66 years, Mildred Barr Helms of Glenwood; sons and wife, Wayne Helms of Lilburn,Georgia and Lex and Dot Helms of Glenwood; four grandchildren, Tanya Wilson, Melanie Averill, Brandon Helms and Blakely Helms; four great-grandchildren, Amelia Wilson, Ashley Averill, Madison Averill and Forrest Wilson; sister, Alvernis Galimore of Elba; brother, Foy D. Helms of Glenwood and a special friend and caregiver, Charlene Bryan of Elba.

Pallbearers will be John Averill, Blakely Helms, Brandon Helms, Claud Johnson, Danny Paul and Shayne Wilson.

Mary Ellen Williams

Services for Mary Ellen Williams, 67, of Troy who died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003, at the Chapel of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy with Rev. Julius Kennedy officiating.

Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery in Ansley under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be at 12 Noon Friday February 28, 2003 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Williams was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Auburn. Her parents were Carl and Nettie Ramsey. She was a graduate of Lynch Colored High School in Lynch, Kentucky and was employed by the Auto Manufacturing Industry as a Punch Press Operator.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nettie Ramsey.

Survivors include her husband, James Williams of Dothan, son, Wayne Jerome Melton of Cleveland, Ohio; three daughters and their husbands, Theresa and Garnett Weems, Wanda and Ronald Lee, both of Cleveland and Darlene Ramsey of Troy; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, brother and his wife, Carl E and Toni Ramsey of Warrensville, Heights, Ohio and several other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Flower bearers will be friends of the family.
