Cheyenne Martin, 22, is The Messenger's newest education reporter. Martin will primarily cover the activities of local city, county, and private schools.
She graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2002 with a degree in journalism.
While there, Martin wrote for the University’s newspaper The Crimson White and worked with the football office as a Bama Belle.
She moved to Troy in December after marrying her husband Aubrey, 24, who is finishing a geomatics degree at Troy State.
Martin grew up in rural Nebraska before becoming a Southern belle. She is excited about her move to Troy because she says it reminds her of home, with an accent.
"We're excited to have Cheyenne join our newsroom team and to help us provide more complete and engaging information about our educational systems," said Stacy Graning, publisher.
Martin can be reached via email at cheyenne.martin @troymessenger.com or at 670-6315.
