Williams leads Wilcox to win

Wilcox Central's Michael Williams enjoyed his last trip to Troy, a 55-54 thrilling win over Charles Henderson.

Tuesday morning, he made himself at home in Troy.

Williams and the rest of his Camden mates advanced to the regional finals with an 86-56 victory over Talladega in the second game of the day.

Williams scored 25 points while shooting better than 80 percent from the field. He shot 12-for-14, and while that number included more than one dunk, he also hit several jump shots. He also collected nine rebounds and blocked three shots.

Williams was not alone on the court, though. Fellow big man Devernonone Johnson (he and Williams stand 6-9 each) scored 19 points and point guard DeJuan Benjamin scored seven points while dishing out 12 assists and making four steals.

As a team, Wilcox shot 60 percent from the field. The Jaguars hit 40 percent of their three-point attempts and held Talladega to only 32 percent shooting and 14 percent from three-point range.

Talladega was led by Jacoby Stockdale, who scored 19 points.

Wilcox won the game with a third-quarter explosion.

Wilcox outscored Talledega 19-8 in the third quarter to pull away after leading 43-35 at the half.

The game was over by the fourth and Wilcox blew it wide open with a 24-13 scoring advantage.
