Ada McCullough

Services for Ada McCullough, 90, of Troy who died Tuesday February 11, 2003 at Edge Regional Medical Center will be at 3 p.m. Saturday February 15, 2003 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with Rev. L.C. McMillian officiating.

Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in Orion under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be at Noon Friday February 14, 2003 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McCullough was born April 01, 1912 in Pike County. Her parents were John and Shirley Ward. She attended the public schools of Pike County. She was member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star- Muse Tride Chapter #708.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. T. McCullough and a twin sister, Anna Curtis.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins; five sisters-in-law, Mary, Ada and Lucille McCullough

and Lucille Fairer of Anderson, Indiana and Mertis of Troy; three brothers-in-law,

Jimmie Lee (Mabis) McCullough, Robert McCullough, Joilet, Illinois and Bonnie McCullough of Anderson, Indiana.

Pallbearers will be friends of family.

Flower Bearers will be neighbors and friends.

Mary Eloise Newman

Services for Mary Eloise Newman, 80, of Sylacauga who died at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center in Sylacauga will be at 2 p.m. Saturday February 15, 2003 at Radney-Smith Chapel in Sylacauga with Rev. Charles Sims officiating.

Burial will be in Marble City Cemetery in Sylacauga under the direction of Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday February 14, 2003 at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Newman and a daughter, Vivian Annette Wright.

Mrs. Newman was born in Talladega County. Her parents were Noah Smith and Emmaline Taylor Smith.

She was a seamstress at Lott Manufacturing and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Douglas Newman of Anchorage, Alaska; daughters, Faye Newman Wright and Linda Newman Cole both of Troy; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and two great -great-

grandchildren.

James Carl (J.C.) Givens

Services for James Carl (J.C.) Givens, 61, of Pine Level who died Tuesday February 11, 2003 at his residence will be at 11 a.m. Saturday February, 15, 2003 at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with Rev. Joseph N. Flowers officiating.

Burial will be in Carroll Street Cemetery in Troy under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation will be at 12 Noon Friday February 14, 2003 at the funeral home.

Mr. Givens was born July 29, 1941 in Grady. His parents were Henry and Lillie Mae Givens. He attended the public schools of Montgomery County. He was a logger by trade in Montgomery County and was a member of the New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Troy.

Survivors include his wife, Corene Jones Givens of Pine Level, two daughters, Brittany Kay Givens of Pine Level and Vicky Givens of Troy; sons, and their wives, James Carl and Becky Givens of Dothan, Christopher and Mary Givens of Troy, James Carl and Betty Givens and James Carl and Betty Brown of the U.S. Army, Kansas; brothers and sisters, Willie James Givens of Chicago, Illinois, devoted brother, Harry Givens of Montgomery, Sam (Quinny) Givens of Montgomery, Melvin Brown of Miami, Florida, James Edward Dulaney of California, Michael Dulaney of Texas, John Walter Foster of Troy, Linda Givens of Columbus, Ohio, Shirley Diane Dulaney of Columbus, Ohio, Brenda Givens of Montgomery, Gloria Dulaney of Montgomery and Patricia Foster (Willie) Williams of Montgomery; uncle, Robert (Mary Lue) Hooten of Troy, New York; and a

mother-in-law, Magalene Stringer of Troy.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Flower Bearers will be ushers and friends.

George Otis Jones

George Otis Jones, 55, of Troy, died Feb. 10, 2003, at Edge Regional Medical Center in troy.

Services will be Feb. 17, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. A.C. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Harrison Funeral Home directing. He was born in Pike County April 24, 1947, to William ad Arthur Mae Jones.

Survivors include: his mother, Arthur Mae Jones of troy; four children, Maurice (Marilyn) Jones of Birmingham, Melanie (Roosevelt) Coleman of Troy, George Jones, Jr. of Saco, Maine, and Kyle Jones of Troy; one brother, Willie Fred (Gwen) Jones of Newark, N.J.; two sisters, Willie Mae Ward of Brundidge, and Lois McGowan of Chicago, Ill; three aunts, Louise Brown of Detroit, Mich., Bessie Jones of Troy, and Bronella Williams of Troy; an uncle, Oscar (Doris) Bell of Birmingham; a loving mother-in-law, Minnie

L. Brantley of Troy; 13 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, a special friend, Mary Byrd of Clio, and several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Max L. Griffin

Services for Mr. Max L. Griffin, who died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Dale Medical Center will be Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at 2 p.m., at Center Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny LaCarter officiating.

Burial will follow in the Center Ridge Baptist Church cemetery, with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home presiding.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Griffin was a member of Center Ridge Baptist Church and of Masonic Lodge #171 in Ariton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Lean Griffin, and two brothers, Shirley and James Griffin.

He is survived by: his wife, Grace B. Griffin of Ariton; two daughters and their husbands, Polly and Rayvon Graham of Brundidge and Jane and Claud Williams of Albany, Ga.; a brother, Toby Griffin and his wife Jewell of Troy; two sister-in-laws, Georgia Griffin of Forth Worth, Texas, and Elsie Griffin of Grady; a brother-in-law, Roy Boutwell and his wife Ruth; and two grandsons, Brandan Graham of Birmingham and Shadron Graham of Brundidge.

The family will accept flowers, or donations can be made to the Center Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund.
