First Baptist Church of Troy is once again hosting "Disciple Now" weekend, Feb. 14-16 and the church is prepared to accept 200 youths in grades six through 12.

And, if more sign up, they will be accommodated, said Debbie Chance, church administrator.

"Disciple Now" is a two-night, three-day event of study and recreation that is directed toward making the right choices in life.

"The kids will be in groups of eight to 10 and will be housed in host homes," Chance said. "There will be a college counselor in each home. The curriculum will be 'Make Up Your Mind' and is designed to help young people make the right choices in life as reflected in the influence of Jesus Christ."

There will be five study sessions during the weekend and there will also be times set aside for recreation and fellowship.

"Disciple Now" weekend will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, and conclude at the end of the morning worship service Sunday, Feb. 16.

Activities will get under way on Friday night at the church with the local band, "C" Street, as entertainment along with skits performed by local teens.

Chance said in addition to study sessions on Saturday, there will be opportunities for participation in extreme games.

"These games are designed to build self-confidence and to emphasize the importance of teamwork," Chance said.

On Saturday night, the band, Blue Floor from Helena, will be in concert and the featured speaker for the evening will be Brad Willis who travels with Blue Floor.

"Brad Willis has a youth evangelistic ministry and recently spoke at the Civic Center in Montgomery," Chance said. "'Disciple Now' will be an exciting Christ-centered weekend of fun and fellowship."

The weekend will be an opportunity for those who are Christians to strengthen their relationship with Christ and perhaps those who aren't will be drawn closer to the Lord, Chance said.

And, there will be a message of forgiveness for those who feel they have made wrong choices in their lives.

"There is always forgiveness in Christ."

Registration for "Disciple Now" weekend will close on Monday afternoon and youths who have not registered are encouraged to do so.

Registration fee is $25 for the first youth and $20 for the second in the same family. The fee includes a workbook, a T- shirt and all meals.

The youths will have breakfast in the home of their host family on Saturday and Sunday. All other meals will be served at the church.
