Troy led 1-0 before Post 210 tied the game up in the fourth inning. David Doty reached with a single for Troy, moved over to third on an error, and was then driven home on a infield hit by Brandon Arnold, giving Post 70 the 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Doty pitched the full eight innings for Troy, striking out six batters while allowing eight hits.

Troy was limited to only four hits in the game. Chase Clower had a single and Chase Kelly added a triple and double. Doty had the other Troy hit.

Post 70 was forced into the loser’s bracket following Friday’s 5-3 loss at the hands of Austin of Decatur.

Austin held the lead for most of the game, scoring three runs in the third and one run each in the fifth and sixth innings of play.

But down 5-0, Troy rallied in the seventh. Brett Pierce pinch hit a single, but was forced out at second on an infield hit by Jake Kitchens. Blake Phelps was then walked and Jeremy Jones reached also for Troy, loading the bases. That set up Clower, who delivered a three RBI double to cut Austin’s lead to only two runs. However, Troy was unable to mount another attack.

Matt Johnson went the full seven innings, giving up 11 hits to Austin batters.

Phelps, Adam Wallace and Pierce each had singles for Post 70. Kelly and Clower both had doubles and Jeremy Jones had two basehits.
