Bessie Porterfield

Bessie Porterfield, 83, 214 Homewood Ave., Troy, died in her home Tuesday, July 23, 2002.

Services will be held from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy Thursday, July 25, 2002, at 10 a.m. with the Minister Jon Hackett officiating

Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Harold Crew of Birmingham; a son and daughter-in-law, Mason and Yvonne Porterfield of Troy; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Davis and Fitz Lee of Troy; grandchildren, Ben Crew, Allyson Crew, Gardner Crew, Jeff Porterfield, Jason Porterfield, Lee Davis and Kelli Destin; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Mae Gibson of Honoraville and Jewell Brown of Mobile.

Pallbearers will be Brian Brock, Ben Crew, Gardner Crew, Lee Davis, Jason Porterfield and Jeff Porterfield.

Harris Turner

Harris Turner, 94, Route 3 Box 271, Troy, died in his home Tuesday, July 23, 2002.

Graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery Thursday, July 25, 2002, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dave Kirby and the Rev. Mark Green officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oak Grove United Methodist Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation will be at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy Thursday, July 25, 2002, from 1-2 p.m.

Survivors include: a wife of 66 years, Ouida Turner of Troy; a daughter, Charlene Green of Dothan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wade and Carol Turner of Long Beach, Miss., and John and Gail Turner of Dothan; two sisters-in-law, Nannie Turner of Troy and Margaret Griffin of Troy; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Ellis R. Carr, Jr., Carl Hussey, Billy Jinright and Jeff Kervin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Perpetual Care Cemetery Fund.
