Troy Post 70 opens with big win over Dothan in districts

From Special Reports – David Doty pitched a five-inning shutout as Troy Post 70 beat Dothan 10-0 on Wednesday night in Junior Legion District Tournament play.
The host-Ariton team played Ozark on Thursday night. Troy received a bye and will face the winner tonight at 7:30 p.m.
"We jumped on top of them quick and David did a good job throughout the game," said Troy head coach Russ Jinright.
Doty limited Dothan to three hits on the night.
Troy took control early, scoring six runs in the first inning off three hits and four walks issued by Dothan pitching. Blake Phelps, Daniel Porter, Chase Kelly, Jeremy Jones, Adam Wallace and Chase Clower all scored in the inning. Kelly, Jones and
Clower all singled for Post 70 in the first.
Troy scored no runs in the second. Jones had a basehit in the inning for Post 70.
Clower reached on error in the third and came around to score, giving Troy a 7-0 lead.
Kelly knocked a two RBI homerun in the fourth for Troy. Phelps hit a single for Troy in the fifth.
The winner of the district tournament advances to state competition in Montgomery.
