Dixie Boys stave off elimination

From Special Reports – Troy staved off elimination with a 10-7 win over Ozark in the Dixie Boys 14-year-old district tournament in Enterprise.
Marquazs Toney belted a three-run homer in the third inning to give Troy a 3-0 lead early. Troy would add to the lead in the fourth inning as Chris Davis doubled and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Clay Helms.
Ozark responded with six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead 6-4.
But Troy put together a rally in the sixth as Davis, Griggs, Cooper Nichols, Jim Wallace and Brent Kohn all scored, pushing Troy back on top, 9-6.
Troy added another run in seventh.
Wallace led Troy with three hits. Toney, Chase Bradley and Davis each had two hits apiece. Michael Sneed, Kohn, Griggs and Nichols also had hits for Troy.
Bradley picked up the win on the mound, going the full seven innings of play.
On Monday, Troy fell to the defending state champion Enterprise team 1-0 as the game was ended by Davis Potter’s solo home run in the eighth inning.
Kohn and Toney worked the full game for Troy allowing six hits while striking out 13 batters. Toney, Nichols and Sam Campbell had the only hits for Troy off Enterprise starter Alan Harvin.
Bradley was robbed of a three-run homer in the fourth inning when the Enterprise centerfielder went up to snag the long ball and keep the game scoreless.
