Troy 13’s fall to Dothan, rally against Enterprise

The Troy 13-year-old team beat the host Enterprise team 8-6 on Sunday, bouncing back after losing to Dothan American 13-9 in the opening round of the district tournament.

Chad Jordan earned the win over Enterprise as he, Tobias Lee, Seth Copeland and Blake Sanders all combined to go the seven innings for Troy. The Troy staff gave up six runs on two hits, issued nine walks and recorded six strike outs.

Zach Campbell was 3-for-4 to lead Troy. Chase Avant was 2-for-5. Jordan, Foster Styron, Sanders and Quentine Thomas each had hits also for Troy.

Troy opened with two runs in the first inning and scored four additonal runs in the second.

Enterprise scored three runs in the seventh.

In Saturday’s game, Troy allowed Dothan American to take a 9-0 advantage, but rallied back to pull within two runs of the lead with a four-run fourth inning.

But Dothan managed to put two more runs on the scoreboard in the sixth and seventh innings and Troy was shutout in the final three innings of play.

Dothan American totalled 12 hits off the Troy pitchers. Sanders, Lee, Copeland and Jordan all pitched for Troy, issuing eight walks and striking out seven.

Daniel Farrar led Troy offensively with his 3-for-4 effort. Avant and Jordan each added two hits. Tanner Hensley, Thomas, Styron, Campbell and Taylor Sunday also had hits for Troy.
