Andrea Charlton had a lead-off triple for Dothan in the first inning and Martin had an RBI triple to follow. Kelsey Coleman hit a single RBI to put Dothan up 2-0 before Troy pitcher Melissa Cain struck out Alex Anne Brackin for the initial out of the inning.

Mollie Hanson reached on a Troy error and came home on an RBI single by Lindsey Jordan. Amber Howard also added a single in the inning as Dothan National recorded five hits and received a sacrifice bunt from Greer Gause as well.

Troy went down in order in the second inning, but Dothan couldn’t find any hits off Cain in their at-bat either.

The third and fourth innings saw Dothan National push six runs across the plate.

Coleman led off the third with a triple, Hanson and Jordan were both walked and Howard followed through with a three RBI triple. Gause was walked also for Dothan but Cain retired the side without allowing any more runs.

Martin had a single to reach for Dothan in the fourth and Coleman was hit by pitch. Both players would come home on a triple by Brackin, her first hit of the night after striking out twice.

Troy was regulated to the loser’s bracket with the loss and will play again at 6 p.m. tonight.
