Ponytails bounce back to win in Elba

The Troy Dixie Ponytails bounced back from a Monday night loss to beat Andalusia 22-8 on Tuesday night at the sub-district tournament in Elba.

Jodi Long, Brittany Knotts and Hannah Spann each combined to pitch Troy to victory, giving up five hits in the ball game.

Troy pounded out nine hits in the contest as Spann and Long each went 2-for-4. Keyani Foster, Kelli Ann Sanders, Bobbi Joe Strother and Whitney Sanders each had hits for Troy as well.

Andalusia issued 18 walks in the game.

Troy suffered its first setback on Monday as Greenville edged Troy out for the win 8-7.

Troy led 5-0 at the top of the second inning and Greenville stormed back to tally three runs in their half of the inning, four runs in the third and one run in the fifth.

"We had three errors in the ball game that really hurt us," said Ponytails’ head coach Kenneth Carter.

Troy scored two runs in the fifth.

Kasee Carter and Sanders had two hits apiece. Courtney Hester, Long and Knotts each had one.
