Harry Sanders has challenging job

Harry Sanders is seizing his opportunity to give something back "to the county that has been home to me for all of my life except for one year."
We look forward to that.
Sanders, the newly selected Pike County administrator, brings a business background to the public sector job. Selected Monday night by commissioners, Sanders must get to work quickly. He will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the county; for administering the more than $8 million annual budget; and for all payroll and personnel issues.
Most important, he’s a liaison for commission members and the public and is responsible for interpreting and administrating the policies and decisions of the commission.
He has a challenging job ahead. With revenue shortfalls prompting the county commissioners to cut funding to more than a dozen Pike County agencies, the taxpayers are keenly aware of the impact of the county budget
– and they’re acutely interested in getting that budget back on track. With politics ever present among commissioners – like all elected officials – Sanders must navigate those politics and stay focused on productivity, efficiency and accountability in our county government.
It’s an opportunity for Harry Sanders to give back and an opportunity to give much to the county.
