Graveside services for Ray C. Carter, 71, of Troy who died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Union Hill Cemetery in Troy

with Rev. Craig Holmes officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy

He was preceded in death by a son, David Manual Carter.

Survivors include a son, Jimmy Ray Carter of Boston, Georgia; two daughters and husband, Mary Pauline Carter (Joy), of Columbus, Ga., and Lesslie Arlene and Tommy Shattles of Iron City, Ga.; sisters and husbands, Margarete and Rick Bouchette of Rockhill, S.C., Lucille and Marvin Andress of Troy, Hellen Carter of Columbus, Ga., Shirley Mayberry of Warner Robbins, Ga., and Gracie and Ronald Wright of Warner Robbins, Ga.; brothers and wife, J. D. Carter of Troy and Floyde and Dorothy Carter of Rockhill, S.C.; and five grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be made to God’s Way Baptist Church in Troy or the American Lung Association.

Carolyn Ann Walker Arthur

Services for Carolyn Ann Walker Arthur, 70, of Glenwood who died Friday, March 29, 2002, at her home were held at 11: a.m.

Monday, April 1, 2002, at Glenwood Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Weeks officiating.

Burial was in Providence Cemetery in Glenwood with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the funeral home. There was a lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene A. Arthur.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Eugene Albritton and Fleisa Butts Arthur of Glenwood; daughter, Carolann Alicia Arthur of Goshen; two grand children, Jon Walker Arthur and Marilizabeth Ashlyn Arthur both of Glenwood.

Pallbearers were Fox Hughes, Bill Walker, Bennon Walker, Wayne Gibson, Walter Sanders and Will Strong.

Loreana McLeod

Services for Loreana McLeod, 84, of Goshen who died March 30, 2002, at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery will be at 11a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. Travis Hitt officiating. She will lie-in-state from 10:15 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the chapel.

Burial will be in Elam Primitive Cemetery under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy.

Visitation

was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, at the funeral home.

Mrs. McLeod was born December 16, 1917, in Crenshaw County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Houston and Georgia Nichols Richburg and her husband, Curly McLeod.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Wayne McLeod of Prattville, and Gene McLeod of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Sara Nell Johnson of Goshen,and Jeanette Brooks of Prattville; four grandchildren, Jeff Johnson of Helena, Brian Brooks of Millbrook, Greg McLeod of St. Louis, Mo. and

Cindy McLeod Paluczak of St. Louis, Missouri; four great-grandchildren; four sisters; Voncill Nichols, Mary Hardy, Ina Fuller, and Odessa Golden and one brother, Alton Richburg.

John Rufus Willis

John Rufus Willis, 37, of Luverne who died Friday, March 29, 2002, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2002, at Mt. Cannan Baptist Church with Rev. L C. Huffman officiating.

Burial will be in Rockdale Cemetery under the direction of Bell’s Hudson Funeral Home of Luverne.

The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service.

Charlie Barr

Charlie Barr, 96, of Troy who died

Sunday, March 31, 2002,

at Pike Manor Health Care Center in Troy will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Springfield Baptist in Brundidge with Rev. Bobby Peters officiating.

Burial

will be in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of

Skeen Funeral Home of Brundidge.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, at Skeen Funeral Home of Brundidge.

Mr. Barr’s

was born on October 29, 1905, in Pike County.

His parents were Will and Muadie Jackson Barr. Mr. Barr was a farmer and attended the Baptist Church.

Survivors are a son, Charlie Ray Barr of Ariton; six daughters and husbands, Sara Barr, Nan and Everett Singleton, Mary Barr, Annette Barr, Linda and Ray Berry and Alanor Barr all of Ariton; none grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, David Barr and 1 sister Madie Turner both of Phenix City.

Vanessa June

Services for Vanessa June of Luverne who died Monday, April 1, 2002, will be announced later by Bell’s Hudson Funeral Home of Luverne.

Mark Anthony Scalzo

Mark Anthony Scalzo, Jr., 30, died Friday in McLeod Medical Center after an illness.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m.

Monday night at Richardson Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Palmetto Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Scalzo was born in Teaneck, NJ, a son of the Mark A. Scalzo Sr. and Linda Orrick McKittrick.

He was a Baptist.

Mr. Scalzo worked as a truck driver and restaurant manager.

Surviving besides his parents are:

his wife, Michelle Varner Scalzo of Marion; the fraternal gandparents, Salvatore Scalzo and Grace Marie Scalzo of Secaucese, NJ; maternal grandparents Barbara and Borie Kaden of Fla.; two sons, Brian Samuel Christopher Scalzo and Steven Silk Scalzo both of Marion; a daughter, Sharon Michelle Scalzo of Marion; a brother Patrick Scalzo of Old Bridge, NJ; three sisters, Kathren Fitzmeyer of Jacksonville, Fla., Grace and Christina McKittrrick both of Jacksonville, Fla.; five uncles, three aunts, four nieces, and three nephews.
