A Brundidge man is charged with murder after a weekend shooting at a Barbour County nightclub.
Charles Boyd Jr., 22, of Brundidge, was being held Monday on $30,000 bond. He is charged with killing Caleb Thompson of Ariton .
"It happened at a club down in Doster," said Sheriff Marshall J. Williams Jr. "Apparently he just started shooting. There was no argument, not anything that appeared to lead to this."
Williams said the incident occurred about midnight at Trey One, formerly known as Lightning’s Club.
The sheriff said investigators believe a minimum of five shots were fired, but Thompson was the only apparent victim. He died of a gunshot wound to the head.
More charges could
be filed, Williams said. "We’re still investigating."
The sheriff said a witness’ identification led
him and District Attorney Ronnie Dollar to Boyd in Brundidge.
"We had a witness who saw him with a weapon," Williams said. "We picked
him up and talked with him, and the charges were filed."
