Nell Lindsey Roling
Services for Nell Lindsey Roling, 91, of Frederick, Md., and Troy
who died Feb. 26, 2002, at Glade Valley Nursing
and Rehabilitation Center will
be private and at the convenience of the family under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy.
Mrs. Roling was born Feb. 13, 1911. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas Lindsey and Ella Motes Lindsey.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, William Andrew Jones and John Hubbard Roling; two brothers, Thomas Lindsey and Theodore Lindsey of Montgomery.
Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia Jones Danford of Frederick, Md.; two nieces, Dorothy L. McGuire and Beverly L. Smith of Montgomery; as well as Judy Kothe of Troy.
The family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Carey Edgar (Shorty) Roten
Services for Carey Edgar (Shorty) Roten, 90, of Troy who died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Edge Regional Medical Center will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Price officiating.
Burial will follow in Macedonia (Stills Cross Roads) Cemetery under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home. Mr. Roten will lie in state from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Roten was preceded in death by his wife, Maudie Lee Roten a son, Edgar Carey Roten, Jr., and a grandson, David Sanchez, Jr.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Charles and Mary Roten of Troy; daughter-in-law, Audrey Roten of Troy; five grandchildren, John Roten, Joann Roten and Melissa Roten, all of Troy and Edward Roten and Billy Joe Roten of Jacksonville, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Jake Roten and Alexander Hocutt of Troy, Charles Roten, Jr. and Megan Roten of Jacksonville, Fla.
Mary Liza Wheeler
Services for Mary Liza Wheeler, 65, of Troy, who died Feb. 22, 2002, at her residence will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with the Rev. L.C. McMillian officiating.
Burial will be in Carroll Street Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at the funeral home. She will lie in state from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Bethel on Feb. 28.
She was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Pike County. Her parents were Willie D. and Mattie Pearl McCall.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Wheeler.
Survivors are Willie J. Wheeler of Jackson, Leroy Wheeler of Kilene, Texas, Tony R. Wheeler of Augusta, Ga, Ronald Wheeler of Dothan, Donald Wheeler of Detroit, Mich., Thomas and Christopher Wheeler of Troy and Tonya M. Blackmon of Montgomery.
