Andalusia hands CHHS two losses

The 4A eighth-ranked Andalusia Bulldogs pulled off a season sweep of Charles Henderson High School on Friday night with a 50-39 win over the Trojans.
CHHS had a 10-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, but in the second, Andalusia’s Alvin Daniels hit a shot at the buzzer to give the homestanding Bulldogs a 17-16 edge. AHS built a 21-16 advantage early in the third quarter before the Trojans made a run to reclaim the lead. Matt Brown and Qua Davis combined for back-to-back baskets and Brown sank one-of-two free throws to tie the game at 21-21. Lakory Daniels two-pointer with 3:30 left put the Trojans up 23-21.
Keli Junior responded for Andalusia with two free throws and his two-pointer at the buzzer put the Bulldogs back on top 32-27.
Andalusia would outscore CHHS 17-12 in the fourth quarter to end the game.
The Bulldogs are now 17-3 on the season. CHHS falls to 10-7.
Daniels finished with 17 points for Charles Henderson, while Davis added 13.
The Lady Bulldogs avenged an earlier loss to the CHHS girl’s team, winning 46-42, also on Friday.
The game was tied at 40-40 with 1:13 left, but Taneshia Wright sank a basket and Ashley Johnson went four-of-four from the foul line to win it for the Lady Bulldogs.
Latofia Barnes had 13 points to lead CHHS and Annie Daniels added 10. Makelia Wingard had 11 also for the Lady Trojans.
CHHS’s B-team, however, did manage to take a win over Andalusia, beating the Bulldogs’ B-team squad, 40-33. Theus Siler had 17 points for CHHS.
