Carden named as news editor for The Messenger

Troy Messenger Publisher Stacy Graning announces the addition of Evan Carden to The Messenger staff as news editor.
Prior to joining the staff at The Messenger, Carden worked for a short time as the editor of the Civil Air Patrol News at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. Before that, he was the editor of The Luverne Journal and The Lowndes Signal.
His past newspaper experience also includes working for The Pike County Citizen in Troy; The Crestview News Leader in Crestview, Fla., The Sand Mountain Reporter in Albertville, Ala., and The Baldwin Times in Bay Minette, Ala.
Carden is a native of Flomaton, Ala. He received a bachelor’s degree in English/Creative Writing from the University of South Alabama.
He and his wife Dianne have two sons, Falon Moss, 20, of Athens, Ala., and Eric, 13.
In his free time, Carden enjoys spending time with his family, reading, watching movies, listening to music and playing pool.
His hobbies include collecting classic rock and roll records and bargain shopping with his wife at flea markets.
"Troy has been my home for the past three years and I am pleased that I have the opportunity to return here and work with the members of this community," said Carden.
