Dr. Ralph Wilkerson Gilmore Jr.

Dr. Ralph Wilkerson Gilmore Jr., 69, of Birmingham, formerly of Brundidge and Gadsden, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001 at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Brundidge with the Rev. Mark Waldo officiating. Burial will be at Brundidge City Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

Dr. Gilmore was a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and an associate professor of dentistry at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. He was also in private practice for 23 years.

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Harlan Gilmore and Allen Ponder of Helena, Amy Gilmore and Rick Passey of Anniston, Laura Gilmore and Steven Hill of Carrollton, Irene Gilmore and Tim Page of Birmingham; one sister, Irene Gilmore Bowden of Laguna Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Ponder, Mary Caroline Ponder, Ashely Grace Passey and Laura Elizabeth Passey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Rivers Gilmore.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice of choice.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. today at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.
