CHHS splits with Cougars

Pike Liberal Arts School dropped two games to Faith Academy (3-1) in Mobile on Friday, with girl’s varsity losing 64-42 and the boy’s dropping a 65-31 decision.

The Patriots (2-3) got 11 points from Jared Waldrop, but Faith placed three players in double figures, with two players grabbing double-doubles. Trey Strickland had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Patrick Bell had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Ben Dyer had 11 points.

PLAS 42

FAITH 64 (girls)

Nicole Thomas scored 19 points to lead the Faith girl’s varsity team over the Lady Patriots.

Kelly Manning had 17 and Erica Martens had 12 as Faith remained unbeaten at 4-0 on the season.

PLAS, which fell to 3-2 with the loss, were led by Danielle Johnson’s and Karli Tribe’s 10 points apiece.

Pike Liberal Arts School traveled to Cottage Hill on Saturday and will next play in the Wilcox Academy Tournament in Camden on Friday, Dec. 14 and Saturday, Dec. 15. Both the girl’s and boy’s varsity teams will play host Wilcox Academy in the opening round.

CHHS 52

NORTHVIEW 63 (boys)

Northview High School (4-1) used a 12-4 run in the third quarter to pull away from Charles Henderson in varsity boy’s action on Friday night, winning 63-52 in Dothan.

The Cougars led just 30-27 at halftime, but CHHS (4-2) went cold from the floor after hitting a basket early in the third, cutting the lead to 30-29.

Northview built as much as a 16 point lead in fourth and final period of play.

Lakory Daniels had 24 points to lead CHHS, while Qua Davis added 16 and Deandra Carlisle scored six.

Mark Roberts and Napolian Barnes each scored 18 for Northview. Nathan Patterson had 15.

CHHS 43

NORTHVIEW 40 (girls)

The Lady Trojans (2-2) were able to take their second straight victory with a 43-40 win over the Northview Lady Cougars (3-4).

Northview led 23-17 at the half, but CHHS used an amazing 17-0 run for the entire third quarter to take a 34-23 lead.

The Lady Cougars fought back to take a 39-38 lead with 1:23 left in the game, but CHHS answered, getting a basket from Annie Daniels with 57 seconds left.

Daniels led CHHS with 16 points. Makelia Wingard dropped in 12 and Mary Gilbert added nine.

Also, the CHHS B-team handed Northview its first loss of the year, taking a 52-44 victory.

Joey Moultry and Theus Soler each scored 14 points and Javarick Givens had 11 for the Trojans.

CHHS returns to action next Friday night in Troy, when it hosts a rematch with Northview High School.
