J.C. Senn
J.C. Senn, 77, of Springhill died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Elba Nursing Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Springhill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mack Lowery officiating. Burial will be at Centeridge Cemetery in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.
Survivors include his wife, Flossie Senn of Springhill; children, Peggy (Phillip) Johnson of Valley, J.C. (Carolyn) Senn Jr. of Opelika, Bruce (Virginia) Senn of Springhill and Gwen (Rex) Rhodes of Troy; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jewell Smith of Tampa, Fla.; and a brother, Marvin (Bobbie) Senn of Columbus, Ga.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Charity Senn, and brothers, David Senn and Talmadge Senn.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. There will be a 30-minute lie-in-state prior to the service.
Ethel Byrd
Ethel Byrd, 63, of Snellville, Ga., died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001 at Decatur Hospital in Decatur, Ga.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Troy with the Rev. Donny Harris officiating and Harrison Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery in the Post Oak Community.
She was born Dec. 26, 1937, in Pike County to Jerry and Minnie Smith Parker. She attended Academy Senior High School. She was a former insurance agent and member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Troy.
She leaves to cherish her memories five children, Adrian Byrd of Clio, Antionette (Jerry) Williams of Snellville, Ga., Anthonette (Daryl) Cobb of Birmingham, Angela (Festus) Byrd of Troy and Angelo Byrd of College Park, Ga.; one brother, Charles (Mary Helen) Parker of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Louise Rackley of Linden, N.J. and Mary (Robert Earl) Brundidge of Troy; grandchildren, Xavier, Marcus, Jamar, Jasmine, Ada and Desilyn; one uncle, James (Pattie Lou) Smith of Saco; and special friends, Mamie Foreman, Julia Lee Glasco and Patsy Reynolds.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers and floralbearers.
Visitation will be noon until 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
Althea Chisholm
Althea Chisholm, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Dale County Hospital in Ozark.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at County Line Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Hollis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at County Line Cemetery in Brundidge with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Chisholm was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Brundidge to Allen and Ethel Smith. She attended Loveless School in Montgomery, then entered the nursing profession and became a registered nurse. She was later became a skilled seamstress.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa (Alvin) McClain of Ramer and Pamela (Gary) Givens of Troy; two step sons, Abraham and Lincoln, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren, Quiara Givens, De Anna Givens and Jasmine McClain; one aunt, Lucile Pryor of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Mary Smith of Brundidge and Bernice Smith of Boston, Mass.; several other relatives and friends.
Friends will serve as pallbearers and floralbearers.
