Gene D. "Jug" Waters

Gene D. "Jug" Waters, 68, of Smiths died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at his residence.

Services were held at 2 p.m. EST, Saturday, Nov. 24 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with the Rev. David Dollar officiating. Interment was at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Vance Memorial Chapel of Phenix City directing.

Mr. Waters was born in Pike County on Jan. 29, 1933, the son of Mrs. Gladys Armstrong Waters Dansy of Brundidge and the late Robert Lee Waters. He was a retired trainman with Norfolk-Southern Railroad and was a member of White Rock Freewill Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.

Other than his mother, he is survived by his wife, Johnnie Dixon Waters of Smiths; two daughters, Rhonda Tabb and her husband, Tommy, of Phenix City and Rita Nickolson and her husband, Michael, of Salem; two sons, Robert Waters and his wife, Jo, of Crawford and Todd Waters of Smiths; one sister, Sue Jenkins of Phenix City; five grandchildren, Angel Waters, Trey Tabb, Sarah Waters, Travis Tabb and William Waters; two step grandchildren, Tiffany and Shelby Nickolsen.

Tomaras Lamon Deveridge

Tomaras Lamon Deveridge, 22, of Goshen died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, on Highway 231 North in Troy.

Services were at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 25, at Goshen First Baptist Church with Pastor Jonas Rogers officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Deveridge was born March 8, 1979 in Pike County to Tommy and Joyce Deveridge. He was a graduate of Goshen High School and the Troy State University Masters Program. He was employed at Small Loans of Troy. He was a member of Goshen First Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his precious and loving memories, a loving and caring and devoted family: his parents, Tommy and Joyce Deveridge of Goshen; one loving sister, Toni Lenea Deveridge of Goshen; two special grandmothers, Josephine Deveridge of Goshen and Maysie Jones of Shady Grove; a loving and caring friend, Sylvia Haslam of Clayton; his god child, Christian Terry; 10 aunts, Ruby (Willie) Wright, Eva Green, Gertrude (Rev. Charlie) Sankey, Annie L. Jones, Eula (Rev. Michael) Pouncey, Edna (William) Bradley, Evelyn Deveridge, Dazzarine Ivy, Polly Foster and Gertie Bell Wright; nine uncles, Mickey (Sheila) Deveridge, Donald (Shirley) Deveridge, Leo (Dorothy) Brown, Elijah (Alwida) Jones, Fred (Ann) Jones, Joe Foster, Larry Foster, Leon (Carolyn) Foster, John Edward (Jean) Foster; his extended church family and many, many cousins and friends.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers, honorary pallbearers and floralbearers.
