DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Tracy Tidwell’s two round score of 12 over par led the Troy State women’s golf team to its first team title of the season, claiming the Coca-Cola Intercollegiate on the par 72, LPGA International Golf Course, fighting through wind gusts of up to 30 knots.
Tidwell opened the tournament with a round of 79, firing a 77 in the final round to claim the individual title. She finished two shots ahead of Jessica Polus of Florida Atlantic.
"I am very proud of how the girls played this weekend," said Troy State head coach Barney Burnett. "They played really well in some very tough conditions. The wind was very tough and our girls were able to adapt their games to the wind and played very well."
The Lady Trojans won the eight-team event by overcoming a two-shot deficit in the final round. TSU shot a 330 in the opening round and was two shots back of Florida Atlantic, but fired a final round 329 to finish the tournament at 659, 83 over par, and a four-shot victory.
Jenelyn Tidwell finished in a tie for third place, firing round of 82 and 80 to finish at 18-over-par 162, six shots back of her sister. Allyson Wills picked up her second top 20 finish of the season after posting rounds of 83 and 86 to finish alone in 15th at 169, 25 over par.
