Troy State University Trojan fans turned out en masse for the homecoming day events Saturday. From a cool morning at the 47th annual TSU Appreciation Day Parade to a cool and windy afternoon at the stadium, people showed their spirit as they cheered the Trojan team put another win in the record book.

We were pleased to see the support the fans showed, but even more so the support that Pike County showed for its home team. Area businesses, organizations and government agencies joined in the parade activities to show Troy State just how glad we are it call Troy and Pike County home. Spectators lined the streets of downtown Troy to catch a glimpse of friends, family, homecoming queens, sororities, fraternities, clowns and antique cars.

Like the parade is a part of tradition on homecoming day, so is tailgating. Early in the week recreational vehicles began to fill Green Davis Tailgate Terrace to celebrate an entire week of homecoming activities. In Troy tailgating is a big deal, not just for the celebrating, but the chance to visit with friends and family and alumni. We are sure more than one "Remember back when we were in school" story was shared under the tents and on tailgates throughout the day.

As game time neared Trojan fans headed to Richard M. Scrushy Field in Memorial Stadium to watch the Trojans wrap up another win. The spirit was overwhelming as the Trojans beat the Thunderbirds 20-17 to draw to a close the homecoming festivities.

As a supporter of Troy State University we are pleased to see the number of people who get involved with activities at Troy State. And it’s not just at homecoming. All year Pike Countians support the university and the Trojans in every and all activities. Homecoming is just the climax of all the events that take place throughout the year.

Another TSU homecoming has come and gone and we take this time to say thank you to the supporters of TSU. And to Troy State, we say thank you for giving us a quality institution to be proud of and for making Pike County home.Go Trojans!
