Three Pike County players make prep spotlight

Chris Nickson, Terrell Gray and Craig Flowers, all running for over 100 yards, combined for 464 yard rushing and five touchdowns in Pike County’s 58-0 win over Alabama Christian to move into the prep football spotlight selected by the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

Other spotlight performances:

Milton Sistrunk of Central High School in Florence accounted for six touchdowns. Sistrunk ran for three touchdowns, threw a 28-yard scoring pass, returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown and ran back an onsides kickoff 55 yards for another TD in Central’s 47-28 victory over Hamilton.

Nick Threlkeld, catching 10 passes, established a state record 233 career receptions in Hubbertville’s 42-10 loss to Brilliant. Todd Ingle of Lynn had set the record of 227 catches in 1991-93.

Jacob Fales of Fairview rushed 33 times for 279 yards and five touchdowns (2, 2, 1, 1 and 34 yards) in a 34-27 win over West Limestone.

Jamal Cooper, who made three of his 10 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, stripped the ball carrier with four minutes left and Kelvin Barnes returned it 98 yards for a touchdown in Lee-Montgomery’s 9-7 victory over Jeff Davis.

Josh Whitehead of Holly Pond rushed 20 times for 247 yards and five touchdowns (35, 90, 22, 5 and 38 yards) in a 34-27 triumph over J. B. Pennington.

Sheffield defeated Colbert County for the first time in 21 years, 37-20.

Bezaris Skanes rushed 11 times for 312 yards and three touchdowns in Brantley’s 56-0 win over Zion Chapel.

Twins Shaun and John May of Highland Home combined for 395 yards rushing and five touchdowns in a 54-30 victory over Georgiana.

Terry Rucker ran for four touchdowns, returned a kickoff 80 yards for a TD, and returned an interception 20 yards for another score in Tarrant’s 63-0

triumph over West Blocton.

Justin Moody of Luverne passed for two touchdowns (49 and 25 yards) and returned two punts for touchdowns (67 and 75 yards) in a 41-0 win over

Gulf Shores.

Marques Gilbert rushed 19 times for 254 yards and three touchdowns and threw a 19-yard scoring pass in Bradshaw’s 36-20 win over Coffee.

Will Ginn of Alexandria completed 9 of 12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns in a 49-0 victory over Cherokee County.

Timothy Hayes rushed for 251 yards and three touchdowns (60, 87 and 2 yards) in Wadley’s 40-35 triumph over Talladega County Central.

Jason Allen of Muscle Shoals carried 15 times for 234 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-6 win over Buckhorn.

Brett Borden of Phil Campbell completed 14 of 28 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown in a 28-14 triumph over Vinemont.

Eric Bogan ran for 235 yards and a touchdown in Thompson’s 30-12 win over Selma.

Drew Davis returned two interceptions for touchdowns and Heath Thorne threw four touchdown passes in Red Bay’s 46-14 victory over Clements.

Brioni Rutland of Deshler rushed for 252 yards and four touchdowns in a 55-35 triumph over Haleyville.
