Lamar (Moon) Jones, 56, of Troy died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001 at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19 at Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Troy with the Rev. Bobby Cox Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Carroll Street Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Jones was born Nov. 20, 1944 in Pike County to Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Jones. He was employed by the Chevron Company.

He is survived by two daughters, Charity Alles Berry of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Sylvia Foster of Atlanta, Ga.; one grandson, Jamall Mattox of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Sarah Robinson, Louise and Gail Jones, all of Troy; three brothers, Edgard (Annie Pearl) Jones of Troy, Tommy (Nettie) Jones of Middletown, Ohio and Willie F. Jones of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, Ester Jones of Troy and a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry Jr., Harry and James.

Pallbearers and floralbearers will be members of the class of 1962 and 1963.

Visitation will be noon until 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18 and the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Armintha Johnson

Armintha Johnson, 104, of Pike Manor Health Care Center died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 19 at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. L.C. Mcmillon officiating. Burial will be at Carroll Street Memorial Cemetery in Troy with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Johnson was born Nov. 3, 1896 in Troy to Mr. and Mrs. Soloman Cephas Sr. She attended Pike County public schools and was a retired domestic. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two grandsons, Tony Johnson of Elmore and Keith Barnes of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; three nieces, Ruby Sanford of Okmulgee, Okla., Minnie McElroy of Spencer, Okla. and Dorothy Cephas of Troy; one very special great-great-niece, Nichole Fullard of Rutledge; a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers. Nieces and friends will serve as floralbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Street Memorial Cemetery, Inc.

Grady C. Stephens

Grady C. Stephens, 62, of Troy died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center in Troy.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 18 at Goodhope Baptist Church in Troy with the Rev. Wayne Locklar officiating. Burial will be at Goodhope Baptist Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

He served 42 years in the United States military and was a veteran of the Korean War and Desert Storm.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Stephens of Troy; children, Diedre and Stanley Senn of Banks, Mark and Pam Stephens of Troy, Michael (Buford) and Monica Stephens of Troy; grandchildren: Jared, Jeron and Jonah Senn of Banks, Douglas, Jessica, John Michael, Bryant and Anna Stephens of Troy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Darlene Stephens, Jack and Nora Stephens; two sisters and brother-in-law, Gloria and Charles Caneer and Julia Harmon.

Pallbearers will be Gary Black, Donald Kelly, Jimmy Lunsford, Boy Motes, Herman Motes, Billy Powell, Keith Snyder and Les Richburg. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren: Jared Senn, Douglas Stephens, Jeron Senn, Jessica Stephens, Jonah Senn, John Michael Stephens, Bryant Stephens and Anna Stephens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Leukemia Research.

There will be a one-hour lie-in-state prior to the service.

Mary Joe Compton Whatley

Mary Joe Compton Whatley, 74, of Troy died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001 at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18 at New Tabernacle Southern Methodist Church in Ariton with the Rev. Terrell Andrews officiating. Burial will be at New Tabernacle Southern Methodist Church Cemetery in Ariton with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include husband, Bill Whatley of Troy; two daughters, Ginger (Paul) Hollis of Ozark and Karen Beasley of Troy; four sons, Paul (Pat) Cary Jr. of California, Spencer (Rosanna) Cary of Debary, Fla., Stacy Cary of Decatur and Jonathan (Georgia) Cary of Debary; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; step daughter, Carol Atwell; step son, Billy Whatley Rogers; three sisters, Kaye Bates, Jackie Phillips and Anna Davidson; two brothers, Tommy Compton and Hugh Compton.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Thursday at New Tabernacle Southern Methodist Church in Ariton.

Amos Hall Sanders

Amos Hall Sanders, 85, of Troy died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001 at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 19 at Little Oak Methodist Church with the Revs. Marvin Jackson and David Floyd officiating. Burial will be at Little Oak Methodist Church Cemetery in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include wife, Juanita Shaver Sanders of Troy; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Kenneth Sanders of Henderson; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Hall and Teresa Sanders of Little Oak; four grandchildren, Jan (Jim) Bryan of Little Oak, Andrea Grice (Mark) Head of Troy, Jana Grice (Jeff) Fountain of Birmingham, Phillip (Michele) Sanders of Troy; great-grandchildren, Chase Bryan, Mandi Bryan and Kailly Jernigan; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Sanders and James B. Holland of Troy; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Cureton Sanders of Houston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos Monroe and Jewell Hall Sanders; sister, Louise Sanders Williford.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Henderson Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Friday at Little Oak Methodist Church.

Mary O. Ingram

Mary O. Ingram, 87, of Pike Manor Health Care Center in Troy and formerly a resident of Brundidge for 50 years, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Brundidge with the Rev. John Emfinger officiating. Burial was at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

Mrs. Ingram was the daughter of Robert and Mamie D. Olds. She was an active member of Salem Baptist Church and was always involved in missions and outreach activities.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Don Rice of Lake Worth, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Shirley Ingram of Smith, Douglas and Kathy Ingram of Brundidge; grandchildren, Doug and Merrisa Ingram of Montgomery, Mark Ingram of Brundidge, Connis Ingram of Roswell, Ga.; sister, Ree Dawson of Union Springs; brothers, Winfred Olds of Columbus, Ga. and Alvis Olds of Plant City, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Ingram.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons or Mt. Zion Baptist Cemetery Fund in Louisville.
