Golf team finishes 10th at Memorial Invite

MILLINGTON, Tenn. – The Troy State men’s golf team tied for 10th place at the Hillman-Robbins Memorial Intercollegiate, on the par 72, Big Creek Golf Club.

Arkansas State claimed the team title after posting a final round of 293, for a three round total of six-over par, 870. The Trojans finished tied for tenth in the 15 team event, with South Alabama at 910, 46 over par.

UNC-Wilmington’s Derek Brown claimed individual medalist honors after firing a one-under par round of 71, to finish at seven-under par, 209.

The Trojans were led by Ryan Campbell, as he claimed his first top 10 finish of the year after posting an even-par round of 72, to tie for ninth place at 217, one-over par.

Andrew Atkinson finished in a tie for 45th in his TSU debut. Atkinson shot a final round 80 to finish at 229, 13-over par. Jared Purvis posted a one-over par, 73, to finish with a three-round total of 234, 18-over par and 57th place.

Cleve Daniels shot also shot a final round 80 to finish in a tie for 58th at 237, 21-over par. Paul Coulthurst chipped in with a six-over par, 78, to finish in a tie for 65th at 239, 23-over par.

The Trojans are in action again at the Rio Pinar Intercollegiate in Orlando, Fla., on Oct. 22-23.
