Troy State soccer extends winning streak to three

DELAND, La. – The Troy State women’s soccer team scored three second-half goals to post a 4-1 victory over Stetson Sunday afternoon in an Atlantic Sun Conference match at the Stetson Soccer Complex. The victory was the Lady Trojans third consecutive victory overall and second consecutive conference win.
Freshman Courtney Reeder scored the only first-half goal off of a rebound at the 25-minute mark. It was Reeder’s fourth goal of the season. She now is second on the team in points with 11.
Stetson tied the game at the start of the second half as Hatter forward Carrie Lorenz scored her third goal of the season off of a pass from midfielder Jennifer Colley.
The score was not tied for long as freshman Sarah McDougal and junior Andi Tickles executed a give-and go play in the box. McDougal Finished it off for her fifth goal of the year.
Freshmen Lucy Fowler and Lynn Rankin added goals for Troy State.
The Lady Trojans improve to 5-2 overall, 2-1 in the conference. The Hatters fall to 3-5, 1-3.
Troy State will return to conference action this Saturday afternoon when it takes on Mercer. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Troy SportsPlex.
